My littler helper

Lucy loves to follow me around and help me with the chores.  Which is fine with me, she is excellent at emptying out the silverware in the dishwasher. Except when she empty's out the dirty silverware that I just put in.  Guess we need to work on that.

Her favorite is when I put the groceries away though.  Or anything to do with opening the fridge.  She can sense when that fridge is gonna open a mile away I swear.  She makes a break for it and tries to get her sneaky little hands on whatever she can find.  Same with the pantry as well.  Lately though she's been content with just opening and closing the pantry doors over and over again. Hey whatever makes her happy!!

And I just came across this picture and I forgot all about it and it made me laugh.  She likes to save her food for later sometimes.

Who knew socks made great hats?

Lucy is starting to get the funniest personality and is always making me laugh.  Her latest thing she loves to play with is socks.  Yes socks.  She loves putting one on her head and then going about her daily business.  I have no idea where she picked up on this or why she does it, but I think it's hilarious.  Especially when she can't get the sock on her head by herself and she get's frustrated with it.  That's when she crawls over and hands it to whoever is closest and sits up and waits for you to put it on her head then once it's on, goes back to whatever she was doing. Sock on her head and all.  She's starting to branch out a bit and now it's basically whatever she can find she wants on her head.  But do you think that means she'll wear her cute head bands again?! Nope not a chance.  She'll keep a sock on her head but won't even leave a headband on for 2 seconds.  Silly silly girl.  She's really gotten in to "Tangled" the last few weeks so I've almost been wondering if she's just trying to have Rapunzel hair.  Guess we'll never know.  Oh Lucy, you always keep us laughing!

Here she is zoning in on the sock....

 And success!!!

A fort night

The other day I was cleaning up a bit upstairs when I heard lot's of laughing and giggling downstairs from Brandon and Lucy.  So always looking for a reason to get out of house work,  I decided to go down and investigate.  I went down to find that Brandon had built a huge fort (a front door and everything!) for Lucy and they were having a blast playing in it.  Lucy loved going in and out and closing the "door" and laughing with her dad.  Nothing makes me smile more than seeing those 2 play together.  They are best buds and Brandon is always coming up with such fun things to do with her.

1 year stats & facts

Lucy went to the doctor the other day and is growing well and healthy! Just what we like to hear when we go in.  Her stats are:

Weight: 18.5 lbs - 9%
Height: 29.5 in - 61%
Head: Can't remember exactly, but it was in the 31%

She's still a skinny little thing, which is weird to me because she eats all. day. long.  And not just baby sized portions, but actual adult size portions it seems!  She was a trooper with her shots and was even lucky enough to get her first ever sucker afterword.  What a sticky mess it was but she loved it.

Some fun facts about Lucy that I always want to remember at 12 months:

*Still wears size 9 month clothes and even fits into a lot of her 6 month clothes.
*Is OBSESSED with dogs.  She has a stuffed puppy she takes everywhere and can't live without.
*Can say "doggy" and can bark.  Ha, every time she hears a dog barking she freaks out with excitement and barks right back.
*Loves all animals.
*Still requests to watch Mickey Mouse every other minute.
*Points at every thing and makes a monkey sound (ooh ooh ooh) at the things she wants us to see and if we aren't looking then she puts her face about an inch away from your face still making a monkey noise until you pay attention to her and what she is trying to show you.  I hope she always does this.  Even in high school.  I love it.
*Loves water and drinks lots of it,
*Starting to walk.
*Starting to play well by herself, but still pretty much follows me every where.
*Her favorite toys are her stuffed puppy, minnie mouse, and her books.
*Loves her sleep and sleeps from 8 pm to 8 am.  And she still takes 2 hour and a half naps.
*Loves her bath time.
*She's turning more into a mommy's girl lately.
*Has 2 teeth.
*Her favorite foods are mac and cheese, strawberries, spaghetti, banana bread and tortilla with cheese.
*Does not like very many veggies or mashed potatoes.
*Screams "mama mama mama mama" when she's mad about something.
*When she's sitting and is excited about something she'll rub her feet really fast on the floor. I always ask her if she's trying to start a fire.
*Starting to give kisses upon request.
*LOVES her grandma & grandpa and nana & papa.
*Has picked up on how to say "No".  That's been real fun.
*Is obsessed with anything Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Obsessed.

I'm sure there is much more but that's plenty for now!  We love our Lucy-bug!  So glad we've been able to spend this year with you!

These feet were made for walking...

We have a walker!!!  As long as it took her to crawl, I thought it'd be forever until she could walk, but she had other plans!  She surprised us one day and just started going for it.  She's still got a ways to go as far as balance and confidence, but I'd say she's doing pretty good.

Don't you love my necklace she's wearing?  I usually only have my necklaces on for a few minutes before she notices and wants to wear it.   I love it.

Minnie Mouse party

For Lucy's birthday we decided to celebrate, Minnie Mouse style of course :)  I was tickled when I found Minnie Mouse birthday decorations and even more tickled when I found out they made some for 1st birthdays.  And since Lucy has an obsession with anything Mickey and Minnie, I thought it was appropriate.

We had a family party with my parents, my SIL Kayla, Brandon's parents, his siblings and their kids.  We went to Pizza Pie cafe for lunch just because I'm pretty sure it's Lucy's favorite since she can get all you can eat spaghetti and olives :-).  After a yummy lunch we headed back to my house for cake and ice cream and presents.  She got SPOILED to say the least and seemed to love every toy she got.  She must have anyways because she's been playing non stop with everything.  Maybe she got sick of her old toys and she was just ecstatic to have something different.

We almost had a disaster with the cupcakes I ordered because apparently when you tell someone you want polka dots on your cupcakes, you need to be a little more specific or you end up with cupcakes like this:

Perhaps I said polka "dot" instead of "dots".  All I know is I laughed/almost cried when I saw them.  Not quite what I had in mind Sam's Club!!!  Don't worry though, my super mom came to the rescue and hurried to the nearest grocery store and found polka dot sprinkles and the "dot" were quickly replaced with "dots." Crisis averted.  Everything else went without a hitch and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!  Especially the birthday girl.  She loved all the attention she was getting.

Phew!  That was a lot of pictures!

We had such a fun day and I'm glad Lucy enjoyed herself! She goes to the doctor next week so I will post her stats and funny quirks about her then because this post is long enough!!
p.s. There are a few new posts below so keep scrolling.
