Girl's night out

My mom put in to get tickets to go see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas program and she amazingly enough got 2 tickets! We all know what that means...GIRLS NIGHT OUT!  My dad was gracious enough to pass on going (real hard decision for him I'm sure) and decided to go to the Jazz game instead.  So I headed down to Salt Lake without my Lucy girl, which I must say I was kind of excited to get an afternoon by myself even though I did miss her.  My mom and I got all fancied up and braved the snow and the cold and headed downtown!  My dad and brother came to dinner with us at City Creek, which was a complete zoo!  Jazz game + Mormon taberncale concert= 6 billion people crammed into city creeks food court for dinner before it all started.  It was insane.  We had to circle the food court more than once trying to find anywhere to sit.  Finally we spotted some people standing up to leave and let's just say a few elbows may have been thrown but my mom got the table!! 

After dinner we separated from the boys and my mom and I wandered around for a bit before heading to the concert.  I have to admit, the concert was a lot cooler than I thought it would be.  The music was amazing, the company even better!  And I even tripped and almost tumbled all the way down the stairs of the Conference center right in front of everyone.  I gracefully caught myself from tumbling after sliding down a few stairs and tried to act all cool like it was no big deal, but truthfully I wanted to just crawl under the seats and die.  My mom got a kick out of it though.  That's what I'm there for folks! Entertainment!

After the concert we corralled out of there like cattle and met up with my dad and bro.  I then headed home, unbeknown-est to me, into one of the worst snow storms ever.  Seriously, scariest car ride home ever.  I was going through Sardine Canyon and just praying over and over again that I wouldn't slide off the road. It was so scary and the snow was so thick.  Luckily though I must've been one of the few crazy ones to attempt the canyon so there wasn't a whole ton of traffic that I had to worry about.  I was saved when a snow plow pulled out in front of me so I just followed him the rest of the way home.  I made it and lived to tell the tale.  Never again though!

Christmas time is here

I have an obsession with Christmas. I love everything about it.  The excitement, the music, the feelings, everyone's a little nicer, everyone seems happier, places being packed all the time with crazed shoppers with christmas music playing in the background, celebrating the birth of the savior...everything! All of it!  I love it!  Can't get enough of it.  Sometimes because of this though I don't really enjoy the holidays as much as I should because I'm stressing about it getting over with too fast.  So I've been trying to enjoy it day by day and not stress about the fact that it'll all be over with by next week...*tear*

I love my house at christmas time as well.  The decorations bring a smile to my face and make my home feel more inviting.

Also I can say I have officially finished my Christmas shopping as well!!!  Can't wait for the festivities to start this weekend!

Thanksgiving 2012

We celebrated Thanksgiving with my side of the fam this year and it did not disappoint!  We enjoyed each others company so much and it was tons of fun to hang out with everybody.  We are all so busy that it's a rare treat when we get to see one another.  My mom was a great hostess and all the food was soooo good.  The weekend was full of eating, eating and more eating.  I think I ate 6 pieces of pie in one day. Impressive eh?


Lucy gave me the best Thanksgiving gift of all...she napped during the big dinner!  I got to enjoy my HOT food and focus only on eating.  It was marvelous.  I finally truly understand what Ralphie says in "A Christmas Story" about how his mother hadn't had a hot meal in 15 years.

After we ate we basically just vegged out, watched tv and slept.  We went over to Holdaway's house a little later that evening to see how their Thanksgiving went and to eat some more food.  Lucy had a blast playing with her cousins and following them around trying to act like a big kid.  She also quite enjoyed chasing the doggies around.  Those dog's either love it when Lucy comes or hates it because she is obsessed with them.  She's even figured out how to play fetch with them.

My mom and I were brave and went out shopping on friday afternoon.  It was pretty crazy but we did manage to find good deals and even didn't have to wait in too many long lines.  It was a blast going shopping with her.  We even lucked out and left Lucy at home with Brandon so she didn't destroy every store we went into and so I could actually shop instead of chasing her around.

We got home on Sunday, along with everyone else (the traffic was horrible!) and now we are ready for Christmas!!!! Bring it on!!!
